Of what I do and who I am as a person. There is no greater feeling in the world than taking the spark of a song, trying it with a group of people and following it wherever it may lead. This feeling is human, universal and available to anyone in the right setting.
I pride myself on being able to create the right setting for creativity to flourish. My basement studio is comfortable, cozy, in the heart of Seattle’s Green Lake neighborhood. The right environment makes all the difference, and I’ve got every instrument and microphone we need to "capture lightning in a bottle.” Together, we can take the smallest spark of an idea from conception to a polished final product. As a lifelong songwriter and musician, I’m happy to support you in whatever way you need.
Start with a song, we can figure out the rest together. I pride myself on a full-service studio. Here are a few of the services I provide.
Recording
I’ve got the microphones, inputs and know-how we need to capture your song as it’s meant to be heard. I am a huge proponent of live instrumentation and capturing your performance with accuracy and focus to the “feeling” of the song.
The rest is still unwritten.
Arrangement
Maybe you’ve got a vision in your head for what you want your final product to be, but aren’t sure how to get there. After years of playing in bands, I’ve got a great sense of when a song needs full, rich arrangements with lots of sounds, or when spaciousness is needed instead.
Instrumentals
As a multi-instrumentalist, I’m capable of playing any part you need to add to your song. Guitar, bass, drums, vocals, percussion are right up my wheelhouse. Looking for something more niche/specific? I’m happy to bring in a session player who can get done what you’re looking for.
Mix/Master
Once we’ve built our suite of tracks, the work is still not over. Whether you’d like to stick around for creative mixing decisions, leave it out of your hands entirely or take our session to your own favorite mix enginerr, don’t neglect this part of the process!
I’ve got a few different options for rates. As with everything else, we will work together to figure out what is the best option for your project and needs. Keep in mind, every song has different needs, in terms of time, instrumentals, sound, etc. So some songs may be cheaper to go hourly, while others may be cheaper to go by song.
Hourly
$100/hour
If you’ve got a slate of songs you’d like to get through in a day/long weekend, this might be the best option.
Rates
Per Song
$500
(Does not include mixing). If you’ve got songs that demand a lot of instrumentals, precision or plan on taking the tracks to another engineer for mixing, this might be your best option.
Joint Release
Free
This is a unique option, primarily open to past collaborators. In this option, we are deeply leaning into collaboration from the moment you step into the studio until the song comes out. “Happy Distracted” will be a credited artist on release. If you value what I bring to the table, this is a win-win option.
